Hiring Unit: Office of First Nation and Inuit Education (OFNIE)
Course Number-Section and Title (CRN): EDPI Family, School and Community
Course Description: Focus on the examination of three important systems in a child’s life; namely family, school and community, as well as societal influences on student growth, development, and adjustment. Emphasis will be on evidence-based practices in collaborating with families and community organizations to form partnerships, classroom interventions and school-based initiatives to enhance well-being.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
Education
- Master’s or PhD in Educational Psychology, Human Development, Applied Psychology, Child Development, or equivalent
- OFNIE Additional Requirements:
- A Master’s degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered)
Experience
- Background and/or courses in inclusive education
- Training and experience working in schools and/or community organizations, with families and students with diverse needs
- Experience working with teachers and other school professionals
- OFNIE Additional Requirements:
- Expert knowledge of course content as outlined in the course description
- Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP) and the curriculum of the partnering school board with whom this course is being giving in collaboration.
- Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified in the Ministère de l’Éducation
- Experience as a teacher, administrator, or consultant in the partnering school board for which this course is being delivered.
- Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary school system
- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers
- Previous successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities.
- Experience developing curriculum and/or instructional approaches grounded in Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies.
- Knowledge of the impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion.
Other
- Adherence to evolving program requirements concerning course content and program-developed competencies; course content and references must reflect the most current advances in the field
- This course must be modified to the educational, social, and cultural context of the community in which it is being delivered.
- Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start date
- Preferred candidate will have demonstrated cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Indigenous issues in First Nations and Inuit contexts and connection to First Nations and Inuit communities.
